Most of the work being done towards police reform in the wake of our Floyd v. City of New York victory – where a federal court ruled that the NYPD’s stop-and-frisk program is unconstitutional and racially discriminatory – has been behind the scenes so far, but a central piece of the reform effort, is the court-ordered “joint remedial process” (JRP).

We envision the JRP as a process where the communities that have been most affected by the illegal stop-and-frisk practices can design and inform necessary reforms and evaluate their success. New Yorker’s participation and investment in this conversation will be essential.
