Internships

Since 1988, CCR has trained the next generation of "people's lawyers" through its renowned Ella Baker Summer Internship Program. The program is designed for students in their first or second year of law school. During the summer, law students assist CCR attorneys with their case loads while taking part in educational seminars and talks.

CCR offers internships throughout the year in its Legal, Communications, and Development departments to law school, graduate, and undergraduate students on an as-needed basis, for which school credit may be offered when appropriate. Generally, term-time internship opportunities will be posted, with application instructions, in the middle of the preceding semester. Please check this page regularly as internships will be posted above on this page.

Volunteering

CCR offers limited volunteer opportunities on an as-needed basis. Here are a couple of volunteer opportunities that occur on a monthly basis that might be of interest:

  1. CCR hosts monthly volunteering sessions (on a weekday) for people interested in helping with general office tasks, mainly stuffing envelopes and sending out mass mailings.
  2. CCR and the National Lawyers Guild host a monthly mailing party (on a weekday evening) of our Jailhouse Lawyer’s Handbook. The Jailhouse Lawyer’s Handbook (JLH) is a resource for prisoners who wish to file claims that their Constitutional rights have been violated while in prison.

If you are interested, please contact us, and list "Volunteer at CCR" as your reason. If you have not already, we urge you to sign up for our email list to learn about upcoming events, action opportunities, and educational initiatives.
