Pack the Court White Hat v Murrill Hearing, Followed by Rally/Press Conference Outside

Hearing Location: 600 Camp Street, New Orleans, LA 70130
Hearing Time: 9 a.m. (8:30 a.m. enter through security)

Rally Location: Lafayette Square (on lawn outside courthouse)
Rally Time: 10:15 a.m. (or ~20 minutes after hearing ends)

Please join the frontline movement against the oil and gas industry's attack on water protectors and capture of Louisiana's legislature. We will be challenging as unconsitutional a 2018 amendment to Louisiana's critical infrastructure law that was drafted by a corporate lobbyist working for the Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association (LMOGA). The amendments turned what were once minor misdemeanor charges into felony charges that carry the possibility of five years imprisonment, with the possibility of hard labor. This is a direct attempt by oil and gas corporations to chill the activism of water protectors engaging in civil disobedience to safeguard the environment. This hearing is the front line in a campaign of lawfare by fossil fuel corporations against those who resist their destructive activities.

At the rally/press conference following the hearing, members of the water protectors, local landowners, and community organizers who brought this case, together with members of the legal team representing them, will speak about the significance of the case, what happened in the hearing, and what the next steps in this fight will be.
