"We can no longer sit as we become extinct," Ashley said. “I want to believe in the triumph of human spirit. That there are people who find this unacceptable."
Ashley Diamond is a Black, transgender social justice and prisoners’ rights activist who is currently incarcerated at Coastal State Prison in Garden City, Georgia, because of a technical parole violation. While in the custody of the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC), Ashley has endured repeated sexual assault, harassment, and denial of critical health care. Read more about her story.

Ashley’s legal team has repeatedly advocated for her safety and care, and asked GDC to transfer her to a women’s facility, transitional housing, or release her to her home. As long as she remains in a men’s facility, she is a target. Ashley recently reported that she was sexually assaulted again by multiple people, and that a deputy warden has called her “a cancer.”
"Every day, I fear for my life as I sit and stare through the metal bars in my cell,” Ashley wrote.
Please act now and show your solidarity by writing a message of support below, which we will share with Ashley.
Your words will mean a great deal, and will let Ashley know that she has a community of supporters who believe that Black Trans Lives Matter, including those who are incarcerated, and that she deserves safety, care, and love.
