Duran v. Trump is a habeas corpus case on behalf of Guled Hassan Duran, a native of Somalia. Guled was captured in Djibouti and rendered to the CIA in March 2004.He was brought to Guantánamo in September 2006, where he has since been held indefinitely and without charge.

In November 2016, CCR filed a habeas petition on behalf of Guled with a federal court in Washington, D.C. One of the main arguments of the lawsuit is that Guled’s detention is not sanctioned under the Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) as informed by the laws of war because he was captured outside of the geographical scope of the government’s detention authority, and that, whatever the government’s initial justification for detaining Guled may have been in 2006, that justification has since unraveled.

In November 2021, Guled was cleared for release by the unanimous consent of all relevant agencies through the Periodic Review Board process.  He was the first of the so-called "high value detainees" to be cleared for release from Guantanamo by the PRB. 

Guled filed a motion for a status conference on November 7, 2022, seeking action on discovery motions that have been pending for nearly two years, and progress towards a speedy resolution of the habeas case.
