Bonus Episode: Examining the History of Lynching through a Present-Day Lens with Pardiss Kebriaei

May 23, 2018

Speakers

Chandra Hayslett, Pardiss Kebriaei

On this bonus episode of The Activist FilesCCR Communications Director Chandra Hayslett talks to Senior Staff Attorney Pardiss Kebriaei about Pardiss’s visit to the National Memorial for Peace and Justice. Pardiss describes the intellectual and emotional experience of walking through a space that memorializes the more than 4,400 African American people lynched between 1877 and 1950. Pardiss connects this history to ongoing discrimination and inequality today, including our work here at CCR, and says her visit left her thinking about the power of what’s possible. It is a compelling look at the first national memorial to acknowledge this terrible part of U.S. history.
