Human rights disparities across race and socioeconomic strata have been magnified since the outbreak of the coronavirus. The effects on Black and Brown communities have been disproportionate, as rampant inequality has magnified the need to address the systemic racism within healthcare, environmental policy, and policing. These realities pose a unique threat to national security and peace, as heightened racial and class tensions have directly endangered U.S. democracy.
The Biden administration has promised expedited efforts to foster unity in a nation fractured by racial strife following the divisive Trump Era, along with efforts to fortify U.S. foreign policy to address perpetual conflict abroad. Join the Human Rights Institute at Columbia Law School on Wednesday, February 10th, as experts in racial and climate justice discuss the human rights priorities of the Biden administration.
